I went for an afternoon tea last year at 3 Rivers Bar and Coffee Lounge but forgot to post about it on the blog! Find our about my 'lost' gin afternoon tea at 3 Rivers.
As you are probably aware, I took a break from the blog in 2018, coming back to it this year. Even though I stopped writing about afternoon tea for a bit, it didn't stop me from going out and enjoying afternoon tea at a few venues!
I was recently looking at my phone and spotted some photos from an afternoon tea I had at 3 Rivers, a bar and coffee shop in Ingleby Barwick. Although I can't remember everything about the afternoon tea I had, I thought it would be nice to share my photos and experience with you.
I went for the afternoon tea with my parents on a work day and it was a gin afternoon tea - you could choose a flavoured gin and tonic of your choice alongside the afternoon tea selection. They also do an afternoon tea with bottomless prosecco, so that will definitely be one to try in the near future!
I'm not normally a fan of gin. but all the gins on offer were very high-end and came with lovely fruity garnishes... very refreshing on a hot summers day!
The afternoon tea was very much geared towards the savoury rather than the sweet... there were a lot of sandwiches, from wraps to bruschetta! I've enjoyed bruschetta with afternoon tea before and find them to be a nice change from the usual sandwiches. There was a lovely tomato and cheese one, as well as goats cheese and caramelised onion... a delicious flavour combination. As well as the sandwiches, there were some antipasti of meats and olives to enjoy.
Come to think of it, the afternoon tea reminded me of a very similar one that I enjoyed at Al Forno a little while back. Not that I am complaining!
After the savoury came the sweet, and there were scones to enjoy. The fruit scone was pleasant and came with jam and whipped cream. There were also some little desserts, including a nice chocolate mint slice which was very refreshing, a good palate cleanser after the sandwiches!
As the afternoon tea was a little while ago and I can't remember all the details, I've decided not to score it on this occasion. However, 3 Rivers is a nice venue and it's a good place to spend time with family and friends, enjoying food and a couple of drinks. When it reopens, I'll definitely be booking in to enjoy another afternoon tea experience!
Where are you looking forward to going to once the bars and restaurants reopen?
